1. In order to display the login screen , for touch screen laptops and tablets , swipe up from the bottom. For normal windows devices , either click anywhere on the desktop or use any windows key. You may also hover your mouse from the bottom to top to bring the logon screen.

2. In order to close the application in Windows 8.0 , first bring your mouse to the upside and hold it until it changes to an 'Hand' icon. Then drag the application and bring it to bottom side which will close the application . Else, you can also make use of 'Alt+F4' combination of keyboard keys.

3. In the advanced metro display screen, you might not be able to view all the applications installed on the system. In order to display them all , if you are using touch device , swipe up from the bottom else , right click anywhere on the empty space of metro screen and you will find 'All Apps' icon in the bottom right of the screen. Click to display all the available programs installed on the system. In order to turn 'All Apps' option off , again click on the 'All Apps' icon which will again bring you to the metro screen of 'Windows 8.0'. For the touch users , you needs to swipe up from the bottom to get the same menu.

4. In order to resize the tiles from the metro screen, right click the tile and in the bottom left select to choose 'Smaller' . You can also follow the same steps for the unpin of application from the start menu or uninstalling an application.

5. You can change the location of the tiles by clicking and dragging it to the required position. Also, if you don't want an application to appear in the start menu, you can select to choose the option named 'Unpin from Start Menu'. If you again want an application which has been unpinned from the start menu, then go to 'All Apps' , right click and select to choose ' Pin to Start Menu'.

6. Beside the horizontal sidebar , at the bottom right of the metro screen , you may find '-' icon which functions to display all the available tiles having zoomed out in single screen. This gives you an easy hand to arrange your tiles as per your requirement.

7. In order to shut your system down ,hover your cursor to upper right corner of the window .In the 'Power' options you will find an option to shut your system down. Also , it can be done by having to sign out from the current account and in the bottom right corner , select to choose the ' Power ' options button . Select the option to shut your system down.
You may also press the combination of 'Control' key followed by 'C'. Here , from the 'Settings' option , you needs to select the option of 'Shutdown' .

8. In order to pin an application to the task bar, first you needs to open an application. In the bottom left corner, right click and select to choose 'Pin to Start Menu item' and click on 'Ok'.

9. When you install windows , you are asked to create a local and microsoft account. A local account is the one which do resides locally on the system. When you use local account to download any application from microsoft from microsoft store , you are asked to provide the credentials for the microsoft account. In order to avoid this over and again , you can setup your account as microsoft account and this account will store all the files associated with this account on the microsoft server. Whereas , when you logs in with the microsoft account , you will be straight way taken to the download page when clicked to download any particular application.

10. While navigating through the applications , you needs to make use of combination of 'Alt+Tab' key. You can also make use of 'Win-Key+Tab' in order to display the open programs in the side left corner of the windows displayed under into ribbons. Also , in the upper top left of the corner , when you point your cursor, you would be displayed with the open application which you have been frequently accessing and navigating through . In order to display all the open applications , drag your cursor from the upper down to display all the available applications.

11. People app in windows 8.0 lets you to store the contacts of the people you know. Usually it is better idea to store the details on microsoft account as even if something goes wrong with your local system , you will not lose any of your contacts as those are directly stored onto microsoft server. In order to create a contact , navigate to people app in metro screen . In order to create a new contact either swipe up from the bottom or right click and select to choose 'New'. Specify the details of the contact and click on 'Save'.

12. If you want all your contacts and friends from social networking site to appear in 'People' app, you may select 'M' logo for microsoft displayer in the upper right corner of the screen . Once , clicked upon it , you will find the respective service account which you wish to add to the 'People' app. Click on the site , and you will asked the respective user name and password for that particular site. Once done with this , your all the contacts from that particular networking site will appear in 'People' app.

13. Also , you can connect to the required E-mail service using 'Mail' app available in 'Metro' screen of 'Windows 8.0'. For this , navigate to 'Mail' icon and select the respective mail provider to
whom you wish to connect . Once done and you are asked for login screen , enter your username and password and click on 'Connect' . This lets you to access your G-mail account mails via single app available in windows 8.0. With this app , you not only can access mails for 'G-Mail' but also can access mails for different service provider like 'Yahoo' , 'Hotmail' and so on.
In order to send an E-Mail , you needs to click on '+' sign available on the top right corner of the screen . If you want an address to be picked up from the 'People' app , click on the '+' sign which appears on the left side of the screen beneath the user address text box. Here , you can select the name of the user which you wish to appear in the address text box. In the right panel of the screen , you may add subject and message and click on 'Send' when you are done

14. In order to upload the file to the skydrive , navigate to the skydrive application or tile available in metro screen display of windows 8.0. Once an application is opened , right click anywhere on the empty screen or swipe up from the bottom . When you will find options available in the bottom right corner of the screen , select to choose the option 'Upload'. Select the file which you wish to upload and click on 'Upload' . In order to login to the skydrive, you needs to have microsoft , live or hotmail account available.

15. In order to change the settings of the system, navigate to the bottom right end of the metro screen. When a pop up will appear in the right pane , select to choose 'Settings' . Here, in the bottom right of the windows , select to choose 'Change PC Settings'. You will find following options available .
=> Personalize
=> Users
=> Notifications
=> Search
=> Share
=> General
=> Privacy
=> Devices
=> Wireless , and so on.
The above settings do refer like 'Control Panel' which we had in earlier version of windows. You may also find the option for control panel available in the top right of the corner of the metro screen.

16. In the 'Wireless' tab, you will find the option for 'Wifi' and 'Flight Mode' . The 'Flight Mode' available in 'Windows 8.0' do enables you to disable all radios on the device with one setting. These radio devices include wireless, bluetooth, and other mobile network connections. This mode is named Airplane mode because it is necessary to turn off all radio devices when flying on a plane. By enabling airplane mode in Windows 8, you can continue to use the Windows 8 device to watch movies, play games, or to do work even when flying. If you want the wireless communication set to off, you can turn the option for 'Flight Mode' as 'On'.

17. If you want the 'Start' button to appear on your desktop which has been omitted from 'Windows 8.0' desktop screen , you can download the application named 'ClassicShellSetup.exe' . Install the application and after installation , you will find 'Start' button appearing onto your desktop.
Click 'Here' to download the 'ClassicShellSetup.exe'.

18. If you want to have the access with system management tools , move your cursor to the bottom left of the screen until you see the thumbnail for the start menu. Right click and select the appropriate tools with which you wish to work. You can also access the same menu by pressing combination of ‘X’ key followed with ‘Windows’ key.
